PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) pipe is durable for extreme temperatures (hot or cold) and is well adapted for temperatures below freezing up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. PEX is a good plumbing material because it is flexible, resistant to breaks in cold weather, and is has fewer joints.

PEX water piping is often preferred rather than copper water piping since several conditions cause copper pipes to corrode resulting in leaking joints, pinhole leaks, and the result can be extensive structural damage. PEX is quieter than copper piping since PEX does not have the hissing sound nor water hammering.

Advantages of PEX:

Adaptable and easy-to-use plumbing system

Can be used with hot and cold water

Can also be used with metal and PVC piping

PEX has fewer fittings, making it faster to install and with
less of a chance to leak

PEX is more burst-resistant due to its flexibility to expand
and contract

PEX can have a pressure balanced system

and since PEX is flexible the pipes can be bent around most corners and usually won't need a coupling, or fitting and the result is less fittings and more water volume than copper pipes.

Bestline has been installing PEX and copper water piping for more than 40 years. Bestline is a PEX and Copper Repipe Specialist.
